Balloon Star
A downloadable game
As a balloon with no helium, making it to the heavens is no easy feat! Use what limited air you have to see how far you can climb, collecting coconuts and avoiding obstacles to make it to the stars.
This game is played in a vertical orientation, so make sure to rotate the screen when playing on the Simulator. When playing on the Playdate itself, the console is held with buttons on the left, and the buttons are aligned between the simulator that the correct arrow keys match your frame of reference. Sorry for any lefties, I ran out of time to implement left handed controls. I also intended to have the crank let you change direction but that stayed on the cutting room floor too. Maybe in a future iteration!
Controls:
Left and Right Arrows to change direction
Up Arrow to push toward the current direction
Down Arrow to Drop

This can be played on either the playdate simulator, or on actual hardware! The simulator can be found on https://play.date/dev/.
This game also uses the playdate in a vertical orientation, with buttons on the left. In the Playdate menu option in the Simulator, you can select "Rotate Game View Right" to make the orientation properly.
