Left - Rotate Counter Clockwise
Right - Rotate Clockwise
X - Shoot Bullet
Rules
Ever time you shoot you will be pushed in the opposite direction off your bullet! Additionally a new enemy will spawn. See how many you can defeat before you hit one or get hit by one of their bullets.
There are 4 types of enemies
- Waiters - Don't shoot, just hang out
- Gunners - Shoot bullets in one fixed direction
- Trackers - Shoot bullets towards you
- Chasers - Always moving, and trying to get closer to you
Behind the Scenes
This game was made for the Pico1k Jam 2025! This was my first time getting together a project in Pico8, and it was a challenging place to begin! After getting the rudimentary systems all together I was already up to over 1400K, and had to ween things down in order to get back under the K goal. It was a really interesting programming challenge to see how I could go through functions and minimize what they are doing, and it made me realize how much redundancy I tend to put in my code!
A lot was left on the cutting room floor, since originally this was going to be level based as opposed to arcade score attack, so I hope to keep development going on this and see where it ends up!
Also, my PlayDate mind is clearly at play here with the rotation, so I definitely want to try porting it to the PlayDate and see how it goes.
